Did you know that land surveyors must have a knowledge of algebra, calculus, geometry and trigonometry? Licensing requirements vary by state, however these requirements generally all have a component of education, experience and examinations. Nowadays, the process for licensing follows two phases. A four year Bacheor of Science Degree in Surevying is required. Upon graduation, the candidate will have to work under the direction of a licensed land surveyor for at least two years. The candidate then has two set of exams - Fundamentals of Land Surveying and Practice of Land Surveying. These exams are held two years apart and are each two days long.
